Membership of SEAZA

Overview

SEAZA represents over 30 member zoos, aquariums and captive breeding centres in the South East Asian region. SEAZA also offers membership opportunities for individuals.

Currently some 150 zoo and aquarium professional are full members, and a further 50 interested individuals subscribe to associate membership.

Membership Category

1. Institutional Member

Institutional members shall be zoological parks, aquariums, wildlife parks, national associations of zoological parks and aquariums, and other zoological organisations of South East Asia. They shall have regular and predictable visiting hours which are convenient to the general public and which constitute more than a token opening. Collections of zoological park, aquarium, and wildlife park members shall be comprehensive, and not merely holdings of domestic or semi-domestic animals or meager collections of wild animals.

They shall further be defined as having as their PRIMARY business: (1) The exhibition, conservation, and preservation of the earth’s fauna in an educational and scientific manner, or (2) the organisation and promotion of same.

2. Associate Member

Associate members shall be persons (individual associate member) or institutions (institutional associate member) who support the purpose and objectives or SEAZA. There is no geographic restriction on Associate membership, i.e., Associate members can be from any country in the world. Associate members shall not have the right to vote or hold elective office.

3. Commercial Member

Commercial members are businesses engaged in the sale of products or services to zoos.
